In advance of the first-of-its kind expanded FIFA Club World Cup 2025™, here is what fans need to know about the clubs competing next summer at GEODIS Park:

June 20, 2025 at 5 p.m. CT | Club León(LEO) vs. Espérance Sportive de Tunisie (EST) – Group D

Liga MX side Club León features former Nashville SC and Venezuelan international forward Jhonder Cádiz. Cádiz recorded four goals and two assists for the Boys in Gold across 30 appearances between 2020 and 2021. The Venezuelan joined Club León in July 2024 and currently leads the Liga MX side this season in goals (five) and goal contributions (five goals, one assist).

Club León has recorded eight Mexican league titles in its 81-year history, including consecutive championships twice (1947/48-1948/49, 2013-14), and 10 additional domestic trophies (five Copa Mexico titles and five Campeón de Campeones trophies). Los Esmereldas boast one international title after beating Los Angeles FC in the 2023 Concacaf Champions League, which earned them a berth in both the FIFA Club World Cup Saudi Arabia 2023™ and the FIFA Club World Cup 2025™.

Espérance Sportive de Tunise is one of only four teams representing Africa at the FIFA Club World Cup 2025™. The elder statesmen of Tunisian soccer own a record-breaking 33 league titles, 15 Tunisian Cups and four CAF Champions League crowns. The club’s most recent Tunisian Ligue Professionnelle1 title came in the 2023-24 season when the team went 10W-0L-2D in the regular season and 6W-1L-3D in the playoffs. Espérance has also participated in three FIFA Club World Cups (2011, 2018 and 2019), including a fifth-place finish in 2018. Additionally, the Tunisian side was named seventh in FIFA’s best African clubs of the twentieth century.

June 24, 2025 at 2 p.m. CT | Auckland City FC (AKL) vs. CA Boca Juniors (BOC) – Group C

Auckland City FC is the only representative from the Oceania region in the FIFA Club World Cup 2025™, and the Oceania Football Confederation (OFC) heavyweight is the only amateur side in the competition. The Navy Blues have dominated OFC’s top club competition, racking up 10 continental titles across a 13-year span (2011-24). In 2024, Auckland City FC claimed the OFC Champions League, the Northern League title and was the Chatham Cup Runner-up. During this season’s run to the OFC Champions League title, Auckland City FC scored 13 goals while conceding just two. The Navy Blues have received 13 total bids to the FIFA Club World Cup, taking home fifth place in its 2009 competition appearance and third in 2014.

CA Boca Juniors represents one of two Argentinian sides participating in the FIFA Club World Cup 2025™. The iconic South American side lays claim to 18 international titles and 52 domestic crowns, solidifying Boca as one of the most successful clubs in the world. The 119-year-old club’s legacy is steeped in success, including a run of six Copa Libertadores titles, signing the legendary Diego Armando Maradona for two short stints with the side, three Intercontinental Cup titles and a runner-up finish in the 2007/08 FIFA Club World Cup tournament.

June 26, 2025 at 8 p.m. CT | Al Hilal (HIL) vs. CF Pachuca (PAC) – Group H

Al Hilal SFC, or the Blue Wave, features iconic Brazilian forward Neymar, who boasts one UEFA Champions League title and one FIFA Club World Cup title with FC Barcelona (2016), three FIFA World Cup rosters, one Olympic gold medal (2016) and one Olympic silver medal (2012), among other accomplishments. The Brazilian international has been awarded top goal scorer in four different instances: 2014/15 UEFA Champions League, 2014/15 Copa del Rey, 2011/12 Copa Libertadores and 2009/10 Copa do Brasil. The forward has recorded one goal and three assists with the Saudi side in seven appearances across all competitions.

Al Hilal SFC is Saudi Arabia’s most successful club and one of four Asian Football Confederation sides competing in the FIFA Club World Cup 2025™. The Blue Wave boast a record 19 league titles without ever being relegated since claiming the Saudi Pro League’s inaugural season championship (1976/77). The Saudi side has won 13 Crown Prince Cup titles, seven Saudi Federation Cup titles, 11 King Cup titles, five Super Cup wins and a Saudi Founder’s Cup at the domestic level. On the international stage, Al Hilal SFC has won eight Asian Football Confederation trophies, including four AFC Champions League titles (1991, 2000, 2019, 2021), two Asian Cup Winners’ Cup titles (1997, 2002) and two Asian Super Cup titles (1997, 2000). The Blue Wave has competed in three of the last five FIFA Club World Cup tournaments, with its best finish coming in 2022 when they claimed runner-up after a 5-3 loss to Real Madrid.

Reigning Concacaf Champions Cup winner CF Pachuca will square off with the Saudi side. The Mexican team owns six continental titles (two Concacaf Champions League titles, four Concacaf Champions Cup titles) and one Copa Sudamericana title from a 2006 win over Colo Colo. Its 2006 Copa Sudamericana win marked the first and only time a Mexican club has ever won a CONMEBOL tournament. CF Pachuca also boasts seven Liga MX titles, winning the Apertura four times and the Clausura three times. This will mark the fourth time CF Pachuca has competed in the FIFA Club World Cup, with its best result at third place in 2017.
